I made my friends at the orientation and the welcome party held on the same evening. We all met in a small pub, became friends, exchanged contact information, and chatted. I got to know my flatmates by sharing food in our shared kitchen.

University of Bristol's Academic Approach
The study abroad program is very flexible, encouraging you to enroll in units from different departments across the university. You can essentially build your own study abroad program based on your needs and interests.
Additionally, University of Bristol welcomes you to enroll in a year-long concurrent studies course, which gives you the opportunity to bridge the gap between the university’s English language and study abroad academic programs.
If you are are slightly below the academic program’s English language requirements and are unable to attend the language program in the summer, the concurrent option would be ideal.
수강 과목
If you meet the concurrent Bridge program’s criteria, you still need to meet all other entry requirements of the study abroad academic program.
*SAF program fee tuition rate is based upon enrollment in 60 undergraduate credits per term.
You can customize your study abroad experience by selecting courses (1st/2nd year) from across various University of Bristol departments, either by combining different subjects or by immersing into one main subject of study.
Undergraduate degrees in the UK are three-year programs, and you can choose units from all three years. For subjects you haven’t studied at your home institution, we recommend first-year units. Second-year units are most common if you're taking your major/minor abroad, and third-year units are suitable only in your major subject if you are close to graduation. We recommend you take at least 50% of units in your major subject. Some units are subject to prerequisite checks with the academic department at the start of the semester.
*Please note that unit choices cannot be guaranteed in advance and that unit registration is finalized when you arrive in Bristol.
Course & Departmental Restrictions
Certain departments have restrictions on higher level courses. You will work with an advisor in the Study Abroad office to identify restrictions, if any.
Departments not open to Study Abroad students
Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science. All postgraduate level units except those within our Faculty of Engineering which form part of a 4-year integrated masters program.
Engineering – If you are taking engineering subjects, you are encouraged to come to Bristol for a full academic year as many of the units are taught from September to June. You should check the unit catalogue to see if you can find suitable units for the spring semester (weeks 13-24) only.
If you wish to take units in the School of Civil, Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, we strongly advise you apply for a year-long placement as many of the units in these departments are taught over the full academic year.
Computer Science – Only 3rd and 4th year units are available to study abroad students, but most of these units have prerequisite requirements and are only suitable if you have completed 2 to 3 years of a computer science degree.
Chemistry & Law – only available for full year students starting in September
Geographical Sciences – most units are taught across the full academic year
Psychological Science – taught as an experimental science at Bristol, not a social science. If you are taking psychology units, you should have a strong background in chemistry, biology, and neuroscience.
Please note that units in our School of Psychological Science have limited capacity.
